OH&S Risk Management

Employers have a degree of legal responsibility for the safety of their employees and visitors to their workplace. We recommend a ‘systems approach’ to managing OHS risks.  This involves a process of systematically identifying, assessing, controlling and monitoring risks to health and safety.  We use the framework provided by AS/NZS 4801:2001- Occupational health and safety management systems.

Risk assessment is a key part of OHS risk management.  Once OHS hazards are identified, the likelihood and consequences of an injury or illness arising must be determined.  SAGAustralia have a thorough understanding of each states' OHS legislation and AS/NZS 4360 – 2004 (Australian Standard for Risk Management) and can assist in finding and analysing risks.  On completion of our work we always provide a report and action plan.

We can work with you to develop and implement a risk management system tailored to your needs.  We also provide assistance at any stage of the risk management process, including workplace risk inspections and specialist advice to assess your risks and identify cost-effective controls.

Occupational Hygiene

Addressing problems such as noise, lighting, ventilation, air quality and hazardous and dangerous substances requires specialist investigation, opinion or testing.  Our occupational hygienists and specialist consultants have the knowledge and skills to determine the level of risk and to identify effective controls for the prevention of injury.  Contact us for more information, including:

  • noise surveys
  • lighting monitoring
  • slip testing
  • air quality monitoring
  • chemical management

Strategic Workplace Planning

SAGAustralia can work as facilitators to help develop a comprehensive strategic plan as part of an organisation's overall strategic planning.  We believe that safety should not be an addendum to the way business is conducted, but an integral part of the way a business acts and conducts itself.

The best way to address OHS issues is at the core of planning.  Specify that safety is part of every echelon of your organisation and the way you do business.  As experts in OHS we also assist in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (1983) and the integration of an OHS management system (using AS/NZS 4804:2001 "Occupational health and safety management systems-General guidelines on principles, systems and support techniques").

A strategic goal should not be compliance with the Act, but to establish OHS management systems that improve productivity, increase retention and minimise the costs of illness and injury.
